Today is an extraordinary day for Miniswys, as it marks the official launch of a project in collaboration with HORAGE.

We have been working on the “Quest to Zero” behind the scenes for some time now, and today, we are delighted to present it officially.
The name says it all, as we aim at solving one of the fundamental challenges of mechanical watches: their accuracy. In fact (as we will discover more in a future post), mechanical watches’ accuracy mainly relies on manufacturing tolerances, extremely precise parts and their painstaking assembly at the expert hand of watchmakers.
That said, once assembled and shipped to the customer, the accuracy is affected in ways that cannot be easily reproduced and counteracted in a lab: transportation, wearer-specific movements, temperature, humidity… These are just a few factors that might negatively affect the watch’s accuracy once it is in the owner’s wrist.
Currently, the only option for the wearer is to either bring the watch to a local watchmaker to have it adjusted or ship it back to the manufacturer if it is under warranty. The latter would very possibly restart the cycle.
Quest to Zero proposes a new technology: MicroReg (Micro Regulation, see picture on the right).
Featuring our own Miniswys actuator (see here or read this post for more details) as a “sleeping watchmaker”, this new system would allow the final user to adjust their own watch without the need to bring it to a watchmaker or ship it to the manufacturer. Doing so will also enable the users to personalize the accuracy of their watches to their own specific environment and type of usage.
The watch industry has already experienced two revolutions: the Quartz movement and Silicon components. Today, we are at the cusp of the Third Revolution, the Regulation Revolution. This has been chosen as the name of the first watch that will feature MicroReg technology.
